Personal Injury

Know Your Rights

Living in Minnesota, you may have heard the term “No-Fault” when talking about automobile accidents. In 1974, the Minnesota No-Fault Automobile Insurance Act became law. Minnesota requires all vehicle owners to have personal injury protection insurance as well as liability insurance. You may have noticed this when you’ve requested automobile insurance quotes, renewed a policy or switched insurance providers.

This means in the event a Minnesota driver is involved in an automobile related accident, the insured party is entitled to compensation for their medical expenses and often lost wages under their own insurance policy regardless of whose fault the accident may have been.

Personal Injury Protection, also known as PIP, typically consists of at least $20,000 for medical expenses and an additional $20,000 for non-medical expenses, such as lost wages. These benefits are included in every Minnesotan’s automobile insurance policy.

Seeking Treatment for Personal Injury Accidents

If you’ve recently been involved in an automobile accident, receiving the care you need is easy. When scheduling your appointment with us, simply let us know you were involved in an automobile accident.

At the time of your consultation, we will request a copy of your automobile insurance and a claim number related to your medical claim. If you have not yet made a medical claim, we can help guide you through the process.

Next we will get a history of the accident, including dates, times and vehicles involved. Be as specific as you can on any symptoms you have. It is not uncommon for your symptoms to worsen in the days following the accident.

After, you will be escorted to an exam room where the Doctor will perform an examination of your injuries. X-rays may also be taken and will be reviewed with you. This often times helps in explaining symptoms you feel have not been severe. We may also request any MRI or CT scans from other facilities related to your accident to better assist us in evaluating your injuries and understanding your specific needs.

At that time, a custom treatment plan fit for your specific needs and what Advanced Chiropractic Center, Inc. can do for you will be discussed. This initial office visit may take up to an hour. We do request that you allow yourself enough time to ask as many questions or concerns you may have.
